EDI InStar Messaging Updated (Omnis ver 11.1)

The internal messaging has been greatly improved. Below is a list of changes.

  • The timer is set to one minute and the prompt will allow the user to postpone for 3 to 60 minutes. The new timers are very consistent. The user may turn off the timer in menu File >> User Preferences. User will then need to check for Messages manually, not recommended.
  • The timer does not change based on the Message Priority but Message Priority will change the color of the Message in the list of Messages.
  • The timer will not fire if the user is running any kind of procedure or editing something. The timer will Queue itself to go off the minute InStar becomes idle. (The user clicks “save” after editing a policy).
  • When the message prompt comes up it will also bring the InStar to the front even if minimized. There is a user preference to determine whether InStar comes up full-screen or normal size. (Whatever size of the InStar window if not maximized)
  • Spell checker added using Windows. Highlight any underlined words and correct or “Learn” to add to the dictionary. User Preferences has a setting to “Auto Correct”, replace a misspelled word or simply underline the word. Hint: if you type a lot of abbreviations or special words the default is NOT to Auto Correct which will replace words not intended so adjust this to your preference.
  • There is no more message about whether a message is urgent, ASAP or FYI. The list of messages is simply displayed with messages color coded and a key on the list window.
  • The list window was also changed to include a cut off date and also allow the user to look at sent items, read items and stored items in the list of messages. This list will come up either from the prompt on the timer or using F8/Main menu option.
